i had my engine checked at a mercury dealer they said it was the temp setting off the alarm i changed water pump that was not the problem i have a 2005 40 hp 4 stroke 3 cyl  mercury does it have a actual thermostat or a sensor not very often but sometimes it does great it always idles good it`s when your going fast is when the alarm goes off & the engine slows  please help
