Outdrive gear lubrication

I have 1969 omc outdrives. How do I lubricate the gears in the upper and lower units ? Will topping off the upper unit also lubricate the lower unit? or are the upper and lower units lubed separately ?

The top rear housing thanks 80 90 the bottom take 80 w and the intermediate housing thanks 80 90 w good luck steve.
