How do I remove the lower cowling on a Mercury 65 red band

Where the wiring harness attaches to lower unit, mine is broken. Bought a used lower cowling, but need to know how to remove the lower cowling on my motor?

if its the old style with automotive looking distributor you have to pull the power head...  yeah keifenhiemer or however you spell his name was an interesting engineer .
