This motor/engine runs very well but when I get out of the throttle after running oh around 3000 rpm or more, there is a knocking or clanking noise that comes from the motor until it slows down. The noise is not as bad or not at all if I ease off the throttle when slowing down. The motor does not jerk or change rpm but is it possible that the motor may be trying to jump out of gear? Thanks for your help.
Mark
I hadn't thought about it before but p.s. it does not have a hotfoot, it only has the standard throttle handle/gearbox.

If your motor makes the noise starting at that RPM and increases at higher RPMs then it's most likely that your shift cable needs adjustment and/or your clutch dog has rounded teeth on it. If it is your clutch dog you will need to change that and the forward gear and re adjust your shift cable or it will get progressively worse.
id say more like you got a big end bairing gone in it
