I have a stripped spark plug hole on my 30 hp. evinrude. Is there any way of putting a thread insert or heli coil, Or will I need to replace the cylinder head? At 450.00 I hope I can repair the head. Maybe an outboard motor junk yard for parts? Help!

There are spark plug thread repair kits available at any parts store. Just try not to get metal shavings in the cylinder.

You can possibly heli coil the threads, but it wont be reliable. Your best bet would be to replace the head, but a heli coil would be a quick fix.
You can put a thread insert in it but when you tap the new thread put a little grease on it and do this a little at a time each time wipe of grease and then put some more on, do about 3 to 4 full turns each time but keep cleaning off the grease and shavings then when all done use thread look on your thread insert that should fix your problem.
