If the steering effort is not equal in both directions when running at most frequently used throttle, trim, and load conditions, the trim tab may be adjusted to obtain equal steering effort as follows:

1. Run boat at throttle position and trim setting that will be used most frequently.

2. Turn the steering wheel in both directions to determine the direction that requires the least amount of steering effort. Loosen the two trim tab clamp screws and the trim tab mounting screw. See Figures 7-1-113 and 7-1-114. Then, adjust trim tab as follows:
a. If less steering effort is required to port, move trim tab slightly to port.
b. If less steering effort is required to starboard, move trim tab slightly to starboard.

3. Retighten the trim tab clamp and mounting screws, and recheck adjustment. Repeat until the steering effort is equal in both directions.

4. After final adjustment, torque the trim tab clamp screws to 10-12 ft. Ibs. (14-16 N.m) and the trim tab mounting screw to 28-32 ft. Ibs. (38-44 N.m).
